Our philosopy

Our philosophy is built upon following fundamental values:

Consistency

We follow an established way of writing code. Consistency leads to code that allows you to make more assumptions and predictions about its behavior. It makes code more readable and prevents useless nitpicking during code reviews. To help us ensure the code always stays consistent, we use a wide set of linters.

Correctness

Our product managers make sure we are building the right things, our responsibility in the engineering team is to ensure we build things right. This includes verifying specifications and ensuring requirements are met. Apart from traditional manual QA we are working on introducing more and more automated tests to be able to switch to a more TDD approach.

Competency

Technical skills matter, if you know what you are doing you are welcome. However, nobody knows everything, therefore we try to share knowledge, help each other and support further development of our engineers.

Simplicity

We like KISS. Complexity is our enemy. We aim for straightforward data models, a simple architecture and processes that allow us to change things easily, and that allow the system to evolve when it needs to. Our goal is to fully understand the domain we are working in and then break down the problem into an elegant and flexible solution. Simplicity is hard, but it is worth the effort.

Freedom and responsibility

We are a self-motivated horde. Engineers are free to dig deep into selected areas. They own the domain, and the code they write. However, they also take responsibility for their decisions and actions.
